Donald Ancil Avery, age 99, of Wellsboro, PA, died on Friday, June 11, 2021. He was born on August 22, 1921 in Westfield, PA, a son of the late Wesley F. and Alice May (Stott) Avery and was married to the late Charlotte "Lottie" (Cheney) Avery. Donald was a WWII Navy veteran and was formerly employed for 26 years by the Dresser Manufacturing Company, Wellsboro, PA where he was the Union Financial Secretary for 24 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wellsboro, PA and had a Bible study ministry at the Wellsboro Shared Home for 34 years. He enjoyed walking and performing jail ministry. He is survived by a son: Donald (Marian) Avery of Schwenksville, PA, two daughters: Kathleen Sharp of Ardsley, PA, Ida (Ward) Baker of Wellsboro, PA, 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter. He was predeceased by a grandson: Richard Wilston. Friends may call on Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 10 to 11 am at the First Baptist Church of Wellsboro, PA. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey McCleary officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wellsboro Shared Home, 27 Bacon St., Wellsboro, PA 16901.
