Elwyn Luther Taynton, age 84, of Wellsboro, PA, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025.  Elwyn was born on January 5, 1941 in Wellsboro, PA, a son of the late Homer and Evelyn (Luther) Taynton. After graduating from Wellsboro High School he enlisted in the National Guard and joined the Army. He received the Purple Heart while serving in the Vietnam War and then served as a Company Commander on the DMZ in Korea.After retiring from the Army, Elwyn returned to Wellsboro and worked for the US Postal Service where he retired as the Nelson Post Master.Elwyn was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Ciara Hart, and brothers, Richard and William (Marjorie)Taynton.He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Rawson); sister Marilyn (Lee) Messner; children Melissa (Kevin) Smith, Regina (Bryan) Smith, Troy Taynton, and Angela (Jesse) Walter; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Wade (Samantha) Brion and their boys, Wade J and Weston; Kyle (Jordyn) Smith and their children, Granger and Porter;  Devyn Smith; and Emmett, Lane & Nicky Walter.Elwyn was an avid boater and enjoyed many years on the Finger Lakes with Nancy and their "Boat Friends."  He, also, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and drinking coffee.
