Jean A. (Congdon) Kilmer, age 75, of Wellsboro, PA, died on Friday, January 28, 2022 after a long struggle with MS.  She was born on October 8, 1946 in Elmira, NY a daughter of the late Carlos Congdon and Margaret Lauper and was married for 53 years to William (Bill) Kilmer, Jr.  She was a 1964 graduate of the Elmira Southside High School, received a bachelor's degree in education from SUNY Geneseo and a master's degree from Elmira College.  Jean was a schoolteacher at the Don Gill Elementary School, Wellsboro, PA where she was very involved in several after school programs and after having to take a disability retirement from teaching worked for several years at Dr. Fox's optometry office in Wellsboro, PA.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wellsboro where she was a Sunday school teacher, was on the Board of Christian Education, lead VBS programs, and attended the Tuesday Ladies Bible Study.  She was involved with the New Covenant Academy and a member of the Business and Professional Women organization.  Jean always had a smile on her face and was always looking for ways to help others.  She is survived by her husband: Bill Kilmer, Jr. of Wellsboro, PA, son: Bryan (Bobbi) Kilmer of Youngsville, NC, daughter: Jill Kilmer Rusinko of Spring Grove, PA, granddaughters: Leah Rusinko, Kara Rusinko, Bryanne Kilmer and Brittaney (Russell) Hinnant.  Friends may call on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 10 to 11 AM at the First Baptist Church of Wellsboro, PA.  A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Drew Simcox officiating.  A luncheon for friends and family will take place at the church after the service.
