She was born December 2, 1927 in Manchester, NH, last daughter of the late Charles H. and Sadie B. (Forbes) Day. Joan was the wife of the late Richard F. Mason and a biology teacher for over 25 years for the Wellsboro Area School District. She was heavily involved in the art community of Wellsboro. She won many blue ribbons at the Tioga County Fair, enjoyed doing needlework and was a member of the National Audubon Society.

Joan is survived by two sons: Dan (Ardis) Mason of Williamsport, PA, Devon Mason of Reading, PA, three daughters: Jodi (Steve Kohler) Mason of Elizabethtown, PA, Darcy (Bruce) Davies of Chesterfield, VA, Shari (Evan) Davies of Yorktown, VA, ten grandchildren and two great granddaughters.
