Richard L. Wheeler, age 78, of Wellsboro, PA, died on Friday, April 11, 2025.  He was born on July 11, 1946 in Wellsboro, PA a son of the late John and Edith (Jelliff) Wheeler and served in the Army National Guard.  Dick was employed for over 30 years by the Borough of Wellsboro as a police officer.  He was a member of the Wellsboro Fire Department, Wellsboro Firemen's Ambulance Association, life member of the Moose and various other organizations.  He liked hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family.  He is survived by three sons: Michael Wheeler of Crafton, PA, Ty Wheeler of Millerton, PA, Adam Cohick of Wellsboro, PA, daughter: Wendy (Thomas) Smith of Wellsboro, PA, grandsons: Damian Stadler of Wellsboro, PA, Kaleb (Alexis) Smith of Carlisle, PA, Nicholas Smith of Wellsboro, PA, great grandchildren: Royal Stadler, Charlie Smith, Lillyana Cohick, Adien Cohick.  He was predeceased by an infant son: Scott Wheeler.  A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 5 to 6 pm at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc. www.carletonfh.com Wellsboro, PA.  A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, April 18, 2025 at 10:00 am with Pastor Michael Birbeck officiating.  Interment will be in the Wellsboro Cemetery.
