William E. Carson, age 86 of Wellsboro passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021 at UPMC Wellsboro.  Born May 30, 1935 in Wellsboro, he was the son of the late Stuart and Lydia "Mae" (Cook) Carson.  He served in the US Navy from 1954 – 1958 and retired from Corning Inc.  Bill was a lifetime member of the Wellsboro Moose Lodge, where he earned the Pilgrim Degree.  He enjoyed golfing, BINGO, playing cards and bowling tournaments.  He is survived by his lifelong companion of 46 years, Bonita "Bonnie" Lawton; his children, Thomas Carson of Mansfield, Penny Wedd of Painted Post and Susan Newbern of FL; 9 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; his brother, Jim and Pat Carson of Mansfield and a sister, Betty and Jim Thornton of Wellsboro.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
